Hi all.

When I go round a right hand bend at a good pace, there seems to be a whirring grinding type noise comes from my front passenger side wheel. It doesnt seem to affect the way the car handles or drives, I just know it shouldnt be doing it.

I suspect wheel bearings, but I could be wrong as much as I could be right, as im no mechannic.

Its a 2005 Mondeo ST TDCi.

Any help or a more accurate diagnosis would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Wheel bearing or CV joint!
Jack the car up and hold the wheel at top and bottom and rock, you should not see any movement or hear any noise.

If there is also a low noise humming on smooth surfaces it points towards wheel bearing.

I cant think of anything else speed and direction related it could be.

Probably wheel bearing, but first check your disc shield, it might be bent slightly and touching something.

definitely wheel bearing, if it was CV it would make noise when accelerating/decelerating with lock on.

The left hand bearing gets more abuse than the other side (potholes, drain covers etc) so tends to go first.

I'd guess wheel bearing also. The left hand bearing on the front gets more heavy usage on roundabouts also.
