Throttle cable mount (in footwell)

Sorry about the vague description, but I've identifed why the beastie occasional runs-on (ie 2.5 - 3k revs) when changing gear. It appears that the mount that holds the throttle cable outer to the back of the pedal assembly has come loose. Judging by the mount (small white thing), it has a groove so I suspect it's held in place by a cir-clip.

Are these easily source (ie Halfwits or alike).

I thing that you should be able to get the clip from most motor factors. However you will probably need one as an example so you can show the shop what you are looking for.
I am a little confused why this would cause the problem that you discribed as the cable outer should automatically be pulled into the back of the bracket by the tension in the cable.

Mine (V8S) has the same / similar end fitting with the circlip groove but no circlip - and no problems. The end fitting is a gentle push fit through the bulkhead and has never shown any signs of coming loose. Circlip would probably be a pig to fit anyway in that restricted space. Sure you don't have some other problem like a frayed inner?
