After admiring my 350's gleaming newly hammerited chassis (its only taken my 2 months to sort!) I've spent this morning caking it, my garage and myself with waxoyl. Christ its difficult to stuff to control -how long does it normally take to dry??

Dunno how long it takes really, I didnt waxoil mine after painting, it looked too nice! I did use some of the clear waxoil in the water trap parts just to be sure. It always remains a bit tacky but I would guess a few weeks should do it.

Thanks. I've used waxoyl as I couldn't bear the thought of having it chipped and having to strip back, krust, red oxide, hammerite etc again. Its been, shall we say a learning experience.

Has yours resisted chips after repainting. Seem to remember you posting pics - looked a cracking job.

Picked up a few chips just behind the front wheels which are easily touched in. I know what you mean though, but I was thinking its easier to pick up any chips without the waxoil,im not sure if waxoil would withstand a decent stone hit, but I guess it will stand a better chance than none at all. Mine being white they should stand out well!

I was thinking of covering the front chassis arms behind the wheels with some pipe lagging and ties when on hoons!
