Evening all,

Can anyone tell me of shops other than Halfrauds which are suppliers for Cycle to Work?

Its a bugger finding a list!

Cheers

Throwing it out there.... if its just for road/city riding, look at singlespeeds?

I've had mine for a while (last post on the thread bellow), it's only a beater for getting to work and having a bit of fun on now and then.

I always used to be an adament supporter of gears and MTB's. But am now really enjoying singlespeed.

Pros of singlespeed:

- More efficient power delivery, through straight chain etc.
- Simple... it wont break on you, will never skip out of gear only requires a tiny amount of tlc every now and then.
- (I think) they look good, especially the top end ones.
- No gear's/shifters/extra chain length/chainrings/cassette etc etc saves A LOT of weight overall. It's really noticeable.
- Tough, it will take a lot of abuse,

Cons of singlespeed:

- Only one gear...obviously... if you opt for longer gears, you will have a higher top speed, but less acceleration.
- A shorter gear will offer great acceleration and will be good on getting away from the lights, but top speed wont be the best by any rate.

I went through Evans cycles with work and was able to buy a bike at sale price so saved even more money biggrin

I've heard that most other schemes don't allow this so is worth bearing in mind (although this was a while ago so could have changed since)

Well worth a look IMO.

Should save you a few pounds from your 1k budget, plus they look awesome.
