What car for repatriation from the US?

My other half's best friend has lived in Florida for the past 9 years, but is moving back here in May. She keeps asking me for advice on what car to get when she comes back, so I thought I'd call on PH.

She currently has a Chrysler Crossfire and had an X5 before that. She's 22, so insurance may be an issue, although they're not short of cash (plus I'm not sure how insurance will work out since she's never driven over here).

Budget is £14k max, and it must be a diesel, low mileage and around 2 years old.
