Just trying to find out if anyone has been offered a better deal than 6 % on a new 520d ?

I've also been offered an 8% discount if I upgraded to a 535d , but I just can't justify the massive price difference for what seems only extra performance and more running costs.

I just spec'd up a 535D to the same as my (now sold today) 07 and it was £56,000 against the £46000 mine cost me three years ago.

That's quite an increase.......

Still bloody great cars though wink

I've specced up a 520d m sport against a 535d and there is roughly a 10k difference. As I'm doing 30000 miles per year I just cant seem to justify the extra cost especially when I take into account fuel costs which I'm expecting to increase next year to over 130p.

If I order now I've got free servicing for the first 60000 miles which is a bonus but Im considering waiting till the new year hoping that the rush for ordering before the vat increase and the novelty of the new 5 series has worn off slightly, hopefully then I'll see larger discounts start to appear.

The problem as always is I don't want to wait!

Have you tried www.autoebid.com?

You can spec on the website. I would then get your local dealer to price match it. That's what I'm in the process of trying to do at the moment with a 535d M Sport.

I got just shy of 10% but it took 4 days, a visit to a merc dealer and lots of badgering

Was this on a 535d or a smaller engine ?

Broadspeed are offering a smidge under 10% off a 520dSE @ £25,317 Vs a list of £28,045

As I'm also trying to spec a 520d at the moment I've been amazed at the amount of extras you find yourself putting on it I'm up to 12k's worth and still finding I'm having to choose between this or that and compromising on the spec I would like.

What kind of spec are other people looking at?

Ah yes the comfort seats a must on my spec sheet as well. I've just seen this F10 the wheels are gorgeous but £3700.... frown

I'm going to go for a 520d m sport estate automatic

Head up display with that new speed system
Professional logic 7
DAB
Panoramic roof
Ambient lighting
Heated seats
USB
Media package
Visabilty pack

I'm thinking of also changing my discovery for the the new M5. I've got a letter of intent for the new 911 but with a young family and little time for a weekend car I'm thinking a 520d for work and a m5 would be an ideal combination.
Long way off for that though..

Nice spec, I have a 911 so the 520d will do nicely for the working week I've decided on this spec:

Black Sapphire
Oyster/Black leather
Black trim high gloss
Media pack professional
VDC
Sports Auto
Comfort Seats
Ambient lighting
Xenons
Sun protection glass
USB
Heated seats
20" V-Spoke bi-colour wheels
Dynamic pack
Loudspeaker Business

broadspeed.com are doing 10% off a 520d M Sport - how much more were you expecting?

I'd say thats as good a price as you will get. The 2.5% VAT increase isnt going to help come january either.

Residuals are likely to be reasonably strong on these too. I'd rather have 10% off a car with decent residuals, than 15% off a car thats going to depreciate like snow off a ditch.

I've specced up a 520d m sport against a 535d and there is roughly a 10k difference.
But what will you get back when you resell?

Have a look at the used E60 market. There are countless LCI 520d's for £13-18k yet not a single LCI 535d under £20k.

When you consider depreciation the 535d may not be as expensive as you think.

Plus it has a proper engine, not a 4 pot pinched from a hatchback which has no place in a big executive saloon.

I just sold my LCI 535D M Sport - very, very well spec'd and the best I could manage after 8 weeks of advertising was £18600. Highish mileage but otherwise absolutley immaculate with no work required at all for the next year or so.

But depending how high the mileage was if it was a 520 it would be closer to 10k. Point being it isn't really 10k more over the life of the car. Well worth it to not drive a 2.0 diesel.
