Very tight hub nut, any ideas/help? (Edinburgh)

I'm trying to replace a drive shaft on the car (Volvo S70) but I can't get the hub nut to budge at all.

I've broken two (aptly named) breaker bars, and various other socket set bits and bobs.

I guess a very good impact gun or a better quality bar might do it, but I'm open to suggestions.

Does anyone have any ideas, or tools to suit? (Edinburgh)

You do know some cars have a left hand thread on one side of the car?

LOL, yes.

You have no idea how many times I checked and double checked that.

I may just buy a 3/4" breaker bar and socket tomorrow and see if that fares better than the 1/2" stuff.

Leverage hasn't been the problem, the tools have broken before the nut has moved

If I thought this impact wrench would shift it I'd buy that, but I have my doubts even though it says it's good for 450Nm.

3/4" drive will shift it no probs. Otherwise you could always use a bit of heat. Roast up any nut/bolt enough and it will move, guaranteed.

Freeze & release spray from halfords, worked wonders for me on a seized bolt - spray liberally, hit with mallet, then try again to undo with a decent socket and extension bar, job done!

Angle grinder- cut down near the thread without damaging it, then it'll release with the bar.

Heat is great to, but normally needs to get very hot first in my own experience.... No more fingerprints!!

A definite possibility, but I fear there isn't going to be enough room to get the grinder in - the nut is quite recessed.

Heat it up then a good breaker bar and scaffy bar and a big heavy mate to shock load it will see it come free.

A local Kwik Fit managed to get it off with their air impact gun.
