Same as tyre stretching etc, people take the piss in making something bigger than the last guy, forgetting the point they did it in the first case.

It's called a Donk btw, if you're into that stuff...

Someone put the link above, but basically its an association for manufacturers of aftermarket car parts in the US, I think it started out as mainly the hot rod/street rod industry, but its expanded to everything now.
They have a massive show in Vegas every year and do a lot of work with regards to legislation that would affect the business of their members - lobbying state governors, senators etc.
They are actually a huge force over there and have already got some proposed laws revised/scrapped.

Seems to be a bit of a craze at the moment for absolutely huge chrome 'rims', usually ruining otherwise clean saloons like the Chevrolet Caprice or Crown Vic

Erm you do realise that this is just done to show off right ?

Its probably on the stand of a wheel company, they're proving its possible to make a big wheel and it still hold the weight of a car etc.

Very true. Thing is SEMA is where you get to see the future. God help us all if that's it.

Type Donk into google image search, it's not just a one off show thing.

(It's moderately safe for work until you scroll down 100 or so and big asses start turning up)

No it's not.

A donk needs much more of a suspension lift.
