To Track or Not To Track???
Discussion
I have recently replaced my beloved Volvo 850 T5 Estate with a V70 T5 of slightly fresher vintage. The 850 has been sat on the drive now for around a month and is still taxed MOT'ed insured etc so to keep the old beast fresh I made the mistake of taking it for a spin and now I have fallen in love with it once again.
Don't get me wrong I love the V70 and it is a better car to drive in normal circumstances but for a thrash the 850 is simply awesome.
Mrs Morgrp wants it sold as we have no need for 2 cars let alone 2 large estate cars (This is excluding my Merc 190 Cosworth that does less than a 1000k a year, lives in the garage and prevents her from getting to the freezer) but I feel like I just can't let go and with almost certain divorce I had the stupid idea of turning it into a track car.
Spec wise its all signs point to track, I rebuilt the engine, ported and poished it and mildly upped the boost a couple of years ago and its been 100% reliable no matter how hard I thrash it. Best guess on power would be around 235bhp. Its a low spec S model and quite scruffy bodywise so I doubt I'd get more than around 800quid for it anyway if I flog it.
Am I mad thinking a Volvo estate would make a good track hack or should I just flog it and return to marital bliss???

A car that big and heavy will cost you a fortune in tyres and brakes if you try to use it on a track. Probably not very enjoyable either. If you really want to do tracks then either sell the Volvo and buy something else or, better still, spend your money renting track cars when you want to have a go.
