bit of advice please......

i've purchased a personalised plate for the first time.

Is the general wisdom to retain the original car registration for the time when you sell the car on?

The literature tells me that the original registration will be withdrawn when I transfer the new to the car.

I'm concerned that when I come to sell the car on - I will want to retain my personalised plate, and if a new registration is assigned to the vehicle, it won't match the original documents for the car. (such as service history, receipts etc)

What do people do in this situation?

thanks in advance

wouldn't worry - in my experiences 9/10 you will get the original plate reassigned.

even if not, the V5 does denote the vehicle has had a plate transfer, thereby any understanding seller would acknowledge this.

Hi there

When my dad bought a personal plate he changed it over in he normal way (sorry don't know dvla numbers etc). When he wanted to sell the car, he just rang them up and asked for the plates to be switched back over. IIRC it only took about 5 working days for the documents to come through.
