The fastest?

Iv'e allways wonderd which TVR is the fastest out of them all, i thought it was the sargaris but i am only 11 so i am probly wrong as usual!

Yes i knew that but it is still a TVR isnt it. so which is the fastest or am i not on my own!

I'd shoot for the Cerbera Speed 12 or the 440R, with potential for the 5xxR if the gets going as well. I can't see the bodywork on the Sagaris helping the aerodynamics over the slippy T350.

IIRC the speed 12 was 210+ and possibly much more depending on the gearing (rumours of a potential 240-ish were quoted). 4.5RR Cerberas about 200 and the 440R about the same, again depending on gearing. I have no idea what the Sagaris or Typhon will be capable of when the hit the road.

let me keep up with you TVR made lot why did the speed 12 not make the road? was it because it was to fast or something.

Basically Peter Wheeler built the car and it was a handful on track to say the least. Search on SLEEPY FISH or Kazaa for any Clarkson vids of it.

Then he road-registered the car and drove it 60 or so miles home one night, and back the next morning. Now Peter Wheeler is not someone easily scared, so when he says the car is un-usable on roads then we better believe him

Also, it had a tendency to BREAK dyno machines

i believe EVO did a story on it not too long ago. and wheeler was saying that he had many people come up to him and offer lots of money for speed 12's and he had to persuade them not to spend their money!! basically it was far too powerful for the road i think they said that it was possible to run up each bank of cylinders on there own and they got the max power figure that way because if they ever ran the engine on the dyno fully it would snap the shafts on the dyno!! THATS THE KINDA POWER I LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT

When I got my Tuscan RR last weekend, I checked the stats display of all the highest registered values on the car... I wasn't sure at the time whether they were the highest that the car could read, or the highest that had been registered. Anyway, I reset them, and checked them again this weekend. The top speed now reads 152, which is right, and clears the situation up. Which begs the question...

Who the hell got 204mph out of my car before I reset it!?!?!?

Back to the question asked, how do you define "fastest"? Fastest to 60, 100, 150, 200? Overall top speed? I'd guess of the "readily available" cars, the Cerb Red Rose is the fastest. Of the "just being built & delivered" cars, the Typhon. Personally, for the first time in my life, I don't think I want a faster car.

A trip to the autobahn on the horizon? If you've the means, it would be rude not to have a go yourself...

If you're concerned about it being thrashed don't panic too much, I got 200 mph out of my first Tuscan sat on my drive and it registered for some reason. Some early cars banged the speedo right round on start up every so often. I reset it in a similar way to you, and then put on a more acceptable real speed -154 down a certain stretch of road (private of course )...

I'm not too bothered about whether somebody's planted the loud pedal for a minute or two... The only thing that concerns me is that I don't have balls big enough to dare do that myself!

I had 173 out of the Cerb, and the last owner of my Tusc said he had 174 out of it... As long as the gearing's there, it certainly felt like it had the power to hit 200+. Managing that's on my list of things to do (just) before I die.

I seem to recall a magazine article about the creation of the prototype Speed 12 engine. It was hand-fabricated from sheet steel and so on, and John Ravenscroft's figures suggested it would make 660 bhp in road trim and could be tuned to 800 or so for the track. Then they started it up... and it made 800bhp before they even fiddled with it, and 1000 bhp soon after.
No wonder Peter Wheeler was a tad concerned.

Don't shoot me, incidentally, if this story is not 100% accurate: you know how much hype and general bullpoo makes it out of the TVR world; but the performance of the Cerbera Speed 12 certainly suggests it's not short of a bit of power...
