I have an e46 330d which has developed an intermittent fault in that it cranks but refuses to start, I've tried the other key when this happens but it makes no difference. The first few times it happened if I left it a few hours it would start but now I don't think it will at all. I'm thinking it must be an immobiliser problem, rather annoying as its been faultless up until now. Has anyone heard of this kind of thing happening? Id like to fix it myself but think a specialist with the diagnostic equipment maybe the way to go.

usual question, can you hear the fuel lift pump running under the passenger side of car when you key on? also cam sensors are a bit wobbly sometimes apparently

any imo fault will have codes logged etc.

Thanks for the advice, turns out it was the the lift pump just needed a good whack to get it going. Its not pulling over 3750 and im sure its not run right for a long time, will be interesting to see if theres a difference with a new pump.
