Hey there,

Ok so this post probably remains in Sport, but its not going to get much of a response there.

Did anyone ever used to go see the Paisley Pirates back in the day at the Lagoon? I remember going as a child and enjoying it greatly and have recently got back into it.

However, the Pirates almost went under in recent years and have only just came back to the Scottish National League, now being run as a charity practically.

They now play at Braehead Arena on most Sunday nights, face-off at 1730 link.

Does anybody else on PH have an interest in this?

Cheers,

-Allan

I used to practice and play with the original Paisley Pirates at the old Ice Rink. This was a full Olympic size rink and it was superb. We used to skate on a Saturday night to some of the top live bands on a huge stage built at one end of the rink.

Aye!! those were the days!

I missed this thread initially...

I used to go most weeks both home and away: trips to Edinburgh and Fife were always a laugh but Dundee was good for the banter (although the atmosphere wasn't as good). Think I went around 1997-2003, most of the latest BNL years when they played from the Lagoon. I got interested in it through my sister who still plays (with the Eagles - Edinburgh Uni's team) and my folks who were involved with the supporter's club. Always good entertainment even if the standard of play wasn't always the best: you could always count on a fight if they were losing badly with only a few mins to go biggrin

Haven't been for years due to moving away from the area, but some mates went literally in the last couple of weeks so I might be back soon. My folks still go every week though.

I was thinking about them the other day because I was competing at the Scottish Judo Championships which was held at the Lagoon on what would have been the ice rink.
