Hi This is my first expewrience using a site like this so any help much appreciated.
I am just considering buying a Sports car.
I have a short list of two and they are a Porsche Boxster 3.2S Manual with 130K miles or a Jaguar XKR Convertable with 100K miles both very nice cars and quite different does anybodu out there have any experiences with either? I like the Boxster because its compact but maybe a bit too small and I like the XKR but am bothered about the build quality etc.
I'd possably consider an SL but cant find anything in my price bracket.
Over to you all and Thanks

They don't actually fall apart once they have hit the magic 100,000 mile mark.

Jaguar have been beating Mercedes and BMW continually in customer satisfaction and reliability surveys for over 10 years....

They even top Porsche in a number of reports. smile

Get any Jag thoroughly checked for rust. Big cats are prone to rot, and the XK is vulnerable around the floor pan area.

I do know that but they also don't sell for to much money with "high" miles either, hence me asking how much they were willing to pay.
Is that ok?

I'd strongly consider an inspection - either by an Indy or one of the AA/RAC/etc; for the sake of £200 you may de-risk a lot of future bills.

With that budget I assume that you are looking at the R129 SL (not the post 2002 R230 which you'd need to double your budget for)

Though not as sporty as the other two an R129 SL is proably a better ownership proposition; you're probably going to get a nicer nick car for your money too.

I would have thought that with a bit of digging you could find an 8k boxster with less than 130k miles on it (this, sadly sold, would have been good: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2234412.htm)

If you're willing to look at the 2.7, then your options increase.
