....and I liked it (have you got the song in your head yet?)

It was a rather tatty (sorry Martin) 150,000 mile Sport (95), but despite this it was a nice drive. I think I might want one after shunning them for all these years.

The interior was nice, the engine was still strong and there is a certain appeal to hacking around London in a Jaguar.

To the classifieds......

The XJ will be welcome/respected anywhere!
It will (or people will) open doors!

No, no, no Paul. Sure enough the XJ is a lovely motor, but you know you really want that Merc.

You know the one..... wink

My brother has exactly one like that. A 3.2. That definitely still does 140 indicated.

The way they cope with the miles is awesome, mine's just approaching 140k and now I've fitted new shock absorber bushes it's so tight and quiet. Including buying it, an MOT test and parts/oil I've yet to break £400 total.

Needs LPG though 12.8mpg average over last 1300 miles and I live in the middle of nowhere. frown

I really like that (very much) but I would only buy it if I had a garage to keep it in excellent order. It's too good to leave it on the street through winter....I feel sorry for the W124 as it is smile

Look Garlic! I demand you to stop publicising cars that I love and that are currently under-valued.

If it's not 190Es, it's X300 Jags, or W124s or whatever.

I only have £1000 quid and you're ruining my chances. Pipe down!

I prefer (obviously!) the XJ40 in looks, a very very similar car underneath but a little more 80s retro cool in my book. Can't get a classier car for the cash

My MY2000 XJ8 (3.2) has just passed 150k miles and sailed through an MOT last month.

Had it a year now (paid 2.5k for it) and it has not missed a beat. Lovely way to munch the miles - did London to the Lakes in 5 odd hours and got out the other end feeling as fresh as a daisy.
