Hi folks, I know insurance has been done to death here but any assistance would be welcome. My postcode starts W4 which apparently is doubling the premium on a Tuscan (compared with a low risk area)even from the more popular brokers recommended on this forum. Does anyone else have a similar postcode and found the same issue? If there are any recommendations/ good experiences from TVR owners in West London I'd be much obliged.

Cheers.

Those lists are so funny.
Having worked in Insurance for some of the big players I have never ceased to be amazed by how the risk ratings are so often wrong. Looking at the 'A' ratings nearest to me I am amazed that such rough areas with obvious problems get such ratings when the nicest quietest areas are medium ratings.

scratchchin Could it be the rough areas don't have nice cars to nick, so they hot foot to neighbouring nice area and nick theirs.... therefore uping the risk in the nice area

According to the list I moved from a medium area to an A area.

The TVR dropped slightly, but the shed polo went up by 20%. When I queeried why it was going up I was told a nicer area was more likely to have nicer cars in it so although the risk of theft dropped a bit the chance of me having a collision with a more expensive car had increased.

Basically any excuse to raise the premium will be taken.

I have worked with the biggest names in car INS and so I know it's all flawed but you gotta have a process!
