The First World War From Above

[RosscoPCole]

Just watched this on iPlayer. A very moving programme which showed the total devastation that happened during WWI. Seeing the before and after aerial photos and the film footage brought home the ferocity of the battles that took place. I never knew of the extent of the mining under the trenches that took place in order to set off huge mine explosions. The 19 mines detonated simultaneously at the Battle of Messines is just terrifying. Well worth watching.

Sorry wasn't expecting to read about a tv programme in the News, Politics & Economics section.

BBC "trailed" the programme as a news item (as they often do) a few days ago so that is why it started off as a "News" thread.
