I know this has been answered but I can't find it...

'86 280i, what is the hazard switch out of? I had corroded contacts but then the little white flippy part (1/2 broken) fell apart so I need to start over. The Lucas number from the Wedge pages parts list page isn't turning anything up.

Thanks Grady

Try the Triumph TR7, I doubt if any of the other ropey Brit hulks that those switches were used on ever made it across to the USA...

They seem to be a bit illusive currently...

The biggest problem I've run across in sourcing the correct hazard switch is finding one with the correct number of contacts on the back side. Plenty of replacements out there but they don't have as many contacts which causes problems. If anyone has found a correct replacement, please let me know.

I don't have the car or switch in front of me but IIRC, it's 4 pins on one side and 3 on the other - so 7 total. Looking at pictures of the back of a TR-7 or TR-8 switch it's 4 plus 2.

The front is close enough (but with a different lighting arrangement).

Got names for the "rope hulks"? Thanks to the WWW and fleabay that might be my solution/salvation.

From looking at a couple of TR7-TR8 switches, they have 6 pins and I have 7 (although I'm going double check this afternoon).

If need be, I'll look at wiring abound the connector. Need to dig out the wiring diagram.
