My Focus has a rear quarter which has a rusty arch, unfortunately the panel is welded on instead of bolting on.

Does anyone know how much roughly they are to repair? Worst comes to the worst and I could get a 2nd hand rear quarter from a breakers that is the same colour as my car and have that welded on?

Is it an economical repair on a car that's worth a couple grand at most?

Replacing panels will be very costly I suspect and not a 5 min job.

Best bet is to rub it down, treat it and spray it. If you do it yourself it'll cost peanuts and a bit of time, but you might not get the best finish. Paint and body shops will vary in price and quality of work (and not always related either).

stripping and replacing welded rear arches is a pretty big job. it will have to be filled about half way up the c-post. it would be easier and cheaper to find a good body shop, have the rust knocked out, and then have it glassed and skimmed with a high quality filler. if its done properly it will look good and go unnoticed to most eyes.
