MTB Maintenance Reference?

Now that I've finally got myself a new MTB I can't help but notice that technology seems to have moved on a bit in the 20 odd years since I last maintained my own bike. This was brought home to me when I decided to give the gear adjustment 'just a quick tweak' which then took me half an hour to rectify. I wouldn't even know where to start with disc brakes or front shocks.

So can anyone recommend a good maintenance reference book, a sort of a Haynes manual for bikes? I had a quick look at the offerings from Amazon but couldn't really tell which was the best bet.

Park Tools do a good one, Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair.

between youtube & biketutor.com I think you can find most tutorials, I managed to buy £15 avid bleed kit of fleabay for my juicy 3's and armed with the wireless reaching garage and my phone to watch the tutorial on youtube from SRAM, I managed to do the job.

Not saying a book isn't a good idea, if you want paper copies most service documents are available directly from the manufactures, however sometimes you have to see a thing being done as the words don't always translate to practical application. Haynes fitting is the reverse of removal being a classic point.

Haynes actually do a bike repair manual. It tells you all the basics from fixing a puncture to setting up gears.

For more advanced things like bleeding brakes youtube is great!

Everything under the sram brand (Rockshox, avid, truvativ) have loads of published maintenance stuff on the internet, including full video tutorials on youtube. Marzocchi have nothing, at all.

I get all my info from either of these forums.
