Is there camping for the kit car owners who decide to stay the 2days? If so what are the costs(if known)?? Will there be a jago stand where I can park the geep during the show and chat to other jago owners(im hoping so)?? Ive booked the time off of work so's that I can attend!! Hope there will be plenty of you there!?!? Looking forward to it! Been to kit car shows before(well newark last year) but never before in the geep!! Anyways, any info would be great!

OK here is the info regarding Stoneleigh kit car show.
The show is on the 2nd and 3rd of May 2004 at the NAC Stoneleigh Warwickshire. The show (to help when you come across the signs) is called The National Kit Car Show.
Club members/exhibitors are allowed to camp in the grounds (usually in the designated camping site) from mid day on the Saturday.
Jago Owners usually camp at the "car park" sid eof the clubs stand.
The Jago Owners Club stand is 55A which is straight through the main vehicle entrance gate and about 50 yards on the right.
This show is classed as one of the clubs official show meets. The show is open to the public from 9.30am to 5pm on both days.
There is usually live entertainment provided on the Saturday night.
The daily admission is as follows:
Kit car drivers free but passengers pay £15 or if under 12 years of age free.
Weekend admission is £5 for kit car drivers, £15 for adult passengers and children over 12 years. If children are under 12 years old then they are free.

No you have to pay for camping even if you have a kit car. It usually costs us £20 for two people.

I believe it covers the period from Saturday afternoon to (I think) Tuesday mid day. Having filled in the form a while back I can not remember.
Most members try to get there saturday afternoon and go home after the show on the monday evening.

I have been rostered to work Stoneleigh weekend so will not be able to go.
Whether my company will some how reimburse me the cost of my tickets and camping fee I have yet to find out.

Naturally I am pretty naffed off but folks want to be able to buy DIY goods on a bank holiday so we have to be open.
That isd the way of the world these days I suppose.

going to have yellow peril ready for this one!
Better half having given permission (first time in 26 years, trusted to stay away overnight, so I intend to make the most of it!!!!!!!!) - is booking required for sun/mon overnight camping and must the geep be booked in by any particular time.
On another note, yellow peril has never (in my hands) done an 80 mile trip, so I am wondering if I would be better to make myself an "A" frame and tow it up - any suggestions on towability? front tyres 185/70 r14 rears 195/75 r14 if that makes any difference, come on back pretty damn quick, last 4 days spent only on geep, so the optional extra (A Frame) will have to be slotted in to a very tight schedule - yes yellow is driven every day, just never got round to actually finishing the rebuild??????

So long as the engine etc is serviced properly and has no major defects there should be no reason why it can not make the journey under its own power.

The Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts which the Jago's are based on re donor vehicle were used as every day vehicles driving on long journeys often with a family and luggage crammed in with very few problems.

You should be able to pay for your camping and any admission fees on the gate at the show.

Sunday sounds good IanA, i just have to check out a whining/grinding noise which has developed over the last couple of days, from what i think is the prop. Seems to be louder in reverse and noise gets faster and slower in relation to acceleration. any ideas anyone? if in doubt pack with grease? (did drive in heavy rain recently)

Normally a failing propshaft results in vibration which increases with acceration and a thumping noise.
Grinding usually indicates gearbox or back axle.
Also worth checking wheel bearings and daft as it may seem the brakes especially the discs.
Sometimes a small amount of grit can lodge in the brakes and give out the most awful noises for their size. We should know as we had an expereince like that on a new car we test drove once on a patch of road the council have tar and chipped the previous day.

thanks for advice, having driven it tonight i think you may be onto something with brakes. Noise seems to dissapear under hard braking.Ive had to add lots of brake fluid recently and adjust handbrake tension to pass MOT, perhaps a leaking cylinder or shoe pressing against hub? Will have a good look Saturday

Hi All
I bought some reclaimed mechanics overalls at a trade stand at
Stoneleigh (Fix It Again Tony / Alfa Romeo dealer type but they had lots
of other marques) for a mere £4. They weren't at Newark so has anyone
got a trade listing for that exhibition so I can track down some more???
Thanks in advance
Ian
