Hey there guys.
I'm over from New Zealand on the world travels we all do and have settled in Edinburgh for a little while. I'm heavily involved in rallying back home (last car was a 1980 DX Corolla running a 1600cc 4AGE) and would love to see how you guys do it on this side if the world.
Where's a club that's big on the rallying side of things? Surely with the McRae family from up here there must be some good stuff. Or maybe just some guys who are looking for an extra crew member?
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Jordan

Bump! Assume you've also posted under Motorsport? Our occasional meets (one on 27th) are sedate affairs - no rallying at all.... Well, not official, controlled or timed events anyway. Good luck, someone should be along soon enough to help. OJ

Opps, i just slagged you off under the karting night....you never mentioned you could drive.
You would enjoy our ph runs...not a rally, but some good driving on some nice roads.

Hi Jordan,

Another kiwi rally nut here smile

How long are you staying in Edinburgh for?, or is it indefinite at the moment?

I moved to Glasgow from NZ just over 10 years ago, absolutely loved it, met a lovely Scots lass after a couple of years, and have been in the UK ever since! I had 2 rally cars stored in the workshop back home (which I was going back to!), but ended up selling them both when I realised I was staying here.

After 7 years in England, we are in the process of moving back to Scotland. Once we are settled in, I'm getting a fun 'weekend car' and will be joining a club to make the most of it. Apparently, it's possible to get a letter from MSNZ showing my competition history that will allow me to get National A Race and Rally Licences again without having to work up through the classes in the UK. My last event in NZ was Rally NZ in 2000, so I'm hoping that should be enough proof of experience.

Have a look at the below website, and I'm sure you will find something local in the events listings. http://www.scottishcarclubs.com/

BTW: The roads in Scotland are bloody awesome - in case you haven't been out exploring yet.

There's a fairly active PH social scene here in Edinburgh too - keep an eye out for Edinthings...

...like the Edinlush pub meet next Thursday at Hamilton's in Stockbridge.

Hope to see you there!

It is mate I've Been a few times. The sound of a GP4 Escort or Lancia Stratos on full chat is something we should all experience.

I was also a member of the Scottish sporting car club many many years ago and they organised auto tests as well as run the merrick stages rally which is a round of the Scottish rally championship
