Has anyone seen the Headline Auto Awards?

http://www.headlineauto.co.uk/Awards/2010/headline...

Can't see how it's really fair. There seem to be a lot of awards for Autocar, but also a lot of judges from Haymarket.

PH wasn't nominated for best site and I don't think Top Gear had any nominations at all.

Motoring journalism - a rather cliquey place.

Hi

In response to the previous comments "Has anyone seen the Headline Auto Awards?..." I would like to point out that PistonHeads received a number of nominations from motoring journalists and automotive industry professionals and PRs and made the initial shortlist for Best Automotive Website of the Year in the headlineauto Awards 2010. After the nominations period all editors and journalists who make the shortlists are invited to submit examples of work and/or supporting statements for their entry. Chris Rosamond was contacted prior to the judging period but unfortunately did not make a submission, which is why you only see 4 websites listed on the shortlist.

Please see the Book of Winners for full details on how the awards work: http://cde.cerosmedia.com/1P4cd7fa474b033840.cde

Please note, The submissions are reviewed by independent panels of judges invited from the automotive press and the industry. No one was allowed to judge a category that they themselves, or their publishing house, were eligible to enter. Each of the five members of the judging panel for each category chooses a top three from their category (no judge sits on more than two panels).

I agree that it is a shame PistonHeads wasn't up for consideration by the judges as it has a very unique place in the world of motoring, and is highly regarded by motoring journalists and PRs alike. I sincerely hope the website is nominated again in future and gains more recognition in next year's awards.

Many thanks

Matt (Senior Content Manager - headlineauto.co.uk)

P.S. - Clarkson was nominated in the Broadcast Journalist category, but failed to enter a submission. Maybe when he learns that Fifth Gear presenters have won for the last two years he'll give it a go next time...

Hi Matt,

If your website wants to give our website an award - just tell us where the party is! smile

(Actually, I don't recall being asked to submit anything this year, which isn't to say I wasn't. Maybe I thought you were trying to sell me something..?)

More to the point, what is 'an online filing cabinet for automotive journalists' anyway? How many journalists can you fit in it at once?

Chris
