Had a fantastic day at Silverstone today.

Was busy photographing the car I was there to drive, but took shots of various others going down the main straight too while fiddling with the camera settings. So if you were there and want a shot of your car on track (free obviously, they're just snapshots...) drop me a PM as I may well have one. smile

I can't be arsed to blank out the numberplates etc, so won't post them up, but I've got various Caterfields, assorted Astons, an E-type, a (very rapid) black Tuscan, 430 Scud, Renaultsport Megane, VW Golf, Scooby, assorted Ginettas, MR2, E-Type, both Maseratis, various 911s, an Exige and a couple of MX5s.

Had a great day apart from

Feking Radicals....

My main complaint was being overtaken on the run-off artificial grass (Copse) by a Radical with another one quickly following and I wasn't on a slow lap either. It was dangerous, I was still moving out from the corner, he was loosing traction on the slippy surface, idiot x2.

The black Aston Vantage undertaking twice, Club and Brooklands. Just annoying, all it takes is to wait a sec.

I was in a Silver M3

It was quite a race-orientated day, wasn't it (car-wise)? I thought the driving standards were good, but the race boys clearly have a different mindset to timid track day dwellers like me when it comes to overtaking. Still, having SR8s and GT4 Astons blasting past adds a bit more theatre to the proceedings.

Impressive to see so many historics out - the Masers in particular were stunning.

Sorry Andrew, it seems your M3 is one of the few cars I didn't actually get a shot of...

There were a couple of really old cars. A blue one which looked like a 1920s bugatti ??

It was a Maserati and I'd hazard a guess it was very early '50s.

The white one was a birdcage. I spent a good few laps behind that in the wet morning session because he was going rather quickly down the straights and I daren't try and outbrake somebody who's driving a car woth more than my house. biggrin

I presume the Aston was a DB4 GT? Wasn't sure if the E-type and Cobra were originals or replicas, but they were stunning too. Usually when I go to a track day it's full of MX5s and hot hatches!

Yeah, was nice being out with some old kit and it did feel almost like a test day at some points although I think mostly the driving was quite respectful. I did a couple of sessions in the two Chevron GR8s. Good fun and very setup sensitive - the two I drove felt completely different.

wavey

I preferred the yellow car, although to be fair I only drove that one in the dry.
