If you were really desperate you could always install an earlier OS into a virtual machine using Virtual PC.
Is it that easy process ? And possible with Win 7 64-bit as well ?I just wanted to install/play a really old game (Need for speed 1) but it won't let me install it and comes up with some sort of message about 32 bit and 64 bit and not compatible.
In Vista, you can set a compatibility mode. Right click on the shortcut or EXE of the game and select properties, then click on the compatibility tab.
Then check the box that says, "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", and from the drop down box select the OS version for which the program was designed.
Regarding the 32/64 bit issue, I would guess that dual booting would be the only solution, but I'm not sure.
ETA. IIRC, the Windows compatibility doesn't always solve the problem, Fritz Chess is now on version 12 or something, so it may be a good idea to look at a later version.

Virtual machines are funky ol things well worth a play with, may be overkill for a chess game but you can use either vmplayer or virtualbox (or microsofts virtual PC) to run any number of software machines running whatever OS you want.
Only proviso is that you need hardware support at the CPU level for running 64bit virtuals on 32bitmachines.
oh and licencing can be an issue with virtual windows boxes (i.e. you need a licence for each virtual install) but usualy people have something hanging around , or can 'find' something.
