I have an old thermostat that i'm wanting to replace. The current system as 4 wires going to it (1 being the earth).
Will this one wire in ok?
Thanks in advance!

What's the make and model of the 'stat you have now?
The 4 wires will probably be live (line in the picture), neutral and earth, plus the "call" wire (no 1 in the picture) to the heating.

The unit you're looking at is battery operated so doesn't need the neutral and probably doesn't have an earth.
You need to connect the live and call wires from your old programmer across the volt free contacts in the new thermostat. Doesn't matter which way around they're connected.
