In his post about whining noise when cold, moveover mentions having put an additive in the gearbox oil at the last service to rectify the stiff gear change when cold. My DB9 manual is coming up for service and I am wondering whether to ask for this additive. I should be grateful if someone would explain more about what it is and does.

Thank you

I think main dealers include the additive when the gearbox oil is changed.......Stratstone Wilmslow did on my DB9

if it is not included ask for it as I would consider this a necessity

It's not so much an additve as a new type oil. If the car is in for a 40,000 mile/4 year service it will get changed anyway. The additive people refer to though was only for the diff oil in an auto box to stop a groaning sound from the rear on full lock. It cannot be fitted to a manual car as the transaxle shares the oil whereas on an auto the 'box and diff run seperately.
