Having an extension done and the have loads of offcuts from the joists and rafters. Is it OK to use them in my log fie which is a cassette type in the wall. Was told they might spit a bit but as its enclosed shouldnt b a problem.

Just lob it all on and shut the door, it will be fine. The only thing i wont burn is anything covered in paint or plastics.

Do ensure they have been removed from the house before setting fire to them.

And cutting them 100% guarantee you will hit a nail

Tried some and they burn great. Not much spitting and no nails as they are from the new timbers being put in!!

ONLY if they are untreated.
Burning the greenish tinged treated stuff leaves Arsenic Trioxide behind in the ash.

I wonder how many people are burning old treated wood joists?

I bet there are a load of people out there who'll think nothing of just banging it in the log burner. (I've done it!)

Although I may refrain from using the other part of my old gazebo from last year having now found out its potentially dangerous....
