Insurance....this could complicate things
Discussion
My old XJS and the 928 before it were both insured via Confused with Lancaster and the premiums for both were around 200 quid each, fully comp....happy days.
However i've tried Confused a few times and Lancaster aren't quoting, says their website's down...the cheapest quotes for a 944 are coming back at 800...eek.
If i quote directly through Lancaster they are saying around 800... It's weird how they are/were only silly cheap through Confused. If i go through their "Quick Quote" portal i am getting around 500, which is better but not amazing.
So any suggestions for a reasonable insurer for an S2 944?
I'm 25, 7 years accident free driving, 4 years NCB (but it's on my daily), the Porsche will be a second car with limited mileage and will live in a garage at a safe rural postcode.
Any help welcome!

I've heard that Richardson Hoskins (that may not be the name but it's something like that) is good for young people with unfeasibly fast classics.
Odd that Lancaster have done that. It seems to me that their 'Quick Quote' machine divides cars into high-risk and low-risk depending on various factors including power, reliability and parts prices. I was thinking about being 'kind' to the Alfa and taking it off everyday duties, retaining it for weekends and track days and getting an old Mercedes 190E as an everyday hack because the insurance is just over £120 fully comprehensive including breakdown cover for the year, and the quote is generated without quite so many questions. The more expensive, powerful or rare the car is, or the more likely it'll need expensive parts, the more questions you have to answer and the more expensive the quote is.
You tried talking to the JEC/JOC and POCGB about club schemes? AROC knocks over a hundred quid off most peoples' premiums on average.

Be very wary. Their introductory offers are often very competitive but I'll never remember the renewal quote of theirs - £1300, after paying about £500 for the previous year, and there was absolutely nothing they could do to get it down to the point where the guy on the other end of the phone just gave up and said 'if you can find better elsewhere mate, I'd take it'.Twincam16 said:

Maybe lancaster realised they were issuing silly quotes through confused and have since 'fixed' the problem?
Phone them up and ask - or you might just be another victim of the insurance hikes since the last bit of snow we had.
I've had the chat with them before....in person, well over the phone, they couldn't come close to the Confused quotes...maybe it was a loophole that's been tied Phone them up and ask - or you might just be another victim of the insurance hikes since the last bit of snow we had.

Sounds like they had a flexible classic car / second car low mileage policy that has no doubt been abused and has now been withdrawn.

Im presuming you're not doing major miles in any of these cars?
Your best bet would therefore be to get a classic car policy. Should cost much more than £200-300 if you're a member of one of the Porsche owners clubs?...If you're not I suggest you join as it will pay dividends when you get a quote from the likes of Footman James, etc
