Last time I had CBH was about 20 years ago - cooked by my mate's dad (a Jamaican).

Anyone still make it?

A twist on CBH, tin of corned beef, tin of spaghetti, tin of toms, chop up in ovenproof dish. Top with mashed potato, bake in oven.

This reminds me of a late night TV program that used to come on every night. 'Get Stuffed' was a five minute thing featuring mainly student types who showed off their budget meals. They always used to start off by saying, "first, we wash our hands" which was usually in a sink full of washing hehe

Love CBH, great way to use up those left over boiled new potatoes.

Lovely with a fried egg on top and lashings of brown sauce.

I hadn't had this for about 20 years either, until last week when I mentioned it to my wife. Next day CBH for dinner biggrin This could well be my last meal option if I were ever to find myself in the US on death-row!

The missus makes a great one. Uses salt beef, rather than corned beef. Got the recipe from a diner in New York. lick

Best served with a fried egg and a beer. Proper brunch food. lick

Do you per-fry the onion or cook it in the mash mix from raw?

So sort of bubble & squeak with corned beef instead of greens, sounds good!

Used to have it quite a lot in our house, but I've opted myself out of it for the last few years because I've just come to accept that I think it's fking rank.

Yes I do but probably a little different to most people.

I slice onions and pots and they build it up in layers in a pyrex dish that has been lightly buttered. I then add a few knobs of butter on each potato layer and sprinkle of salt.

At the very top I add a layer of corned beef, cover with foil and then bake in the oven.

I remember Get Stuffed! A 2am sort of programme. Probably between Tour of Duty and the Jobs Pages. Classic TV.

Oh must have had a weird version when a kid (last time I have had it)
fried onions, tin of beans, cubes of corned beef and cubes of sauted potatos with the obligatory lashings of hp sauce!

This is how I make CBH too but I top it off with a layer of potatos so they brown and crisp up like a lanc hotpot.

Hmm Think I might make one this week.
