Hi,

I have a Land Rover Discovery 2 that I wish to take off road and would like to know the largest tyre size I can fit on the car (standard suspension, air at the back).

I'm looking to buy some steel modular wheels and get some General Grabber AT2s.

It seems I have two options for wheels - 16x7J or 16x8J
And 3 options of tyres - 235/70, 245/70 or 265/70

Wondering if anyone has experience of what works best, what rubs and what doesn't.

Thanks,
Simon

In short there are lots of answers and lots of opinions. biggrin

Meaning, you'll be able to fit a narrower taller tyre than just a wide one to some extent.

Do you plan on a suspension lift or any wheel arch trimming? And have you got a standard front bumper with the front spoiler?

One thing I'd say though. If you actually plan to off road, get some mud terrains or better. AT's are ok, but they'll not be a substitute when its wet or really slippery out.

Lastly, do you know what sort of terrain you'll be driving on? The wide vs narrow tyre debate will rage on regardless. But narrow tyres can work very well in certain conditions.
