Only got photos of the leaves and seeds/nuts.

The leaves are a lighter green than in the photo.

Identification would be very helpful. Thanks guys.

ETA: right I don't know where the photos are. They are linked correctly. Must be one of those IT moments.

I'd start by looking at the Plane tree (Platanus) family going by the seeds.....

The ball fruit clusters look very Plane but the leaves aren't distinctly Plane. London Planes have pretty distinctive finger like leaves or the classic canadian maple leave shape to them.

What did the bark look like? Are they definately from the same tree?

There are many, if not dozens of varieties, of Plane trees in London, all referred to as London Planes, as well as other more distinct members of the family that may be planted as individual specimens.

The leaves are very variable between varieties from finely fingered to no fingering at all. And quite variable on even an individual tree.

8 Species of Platanus, not sure there are many varieties. Seeds do look a little like them but are a bit small and nott really 'hairy' enough. What we really need is to know about the bark as this would be the killer info. Also help for the seeds and leaves to be placed next to a ruler to indicate scale. Not convinced of Plane and it certainly isn't Lime. Tree size would help too!

Seeds are about the width of a USB plug (see top photo).

My picture of the tree itself is pony and unrecognisable.

I'll have to go back to site.

Cheers guys I'll post a new piccie of the tree and the bark (smooth grey green iirc) when I get them.

Paper Mulberry - Broussonetia papyrifera - leaves up to 18cm and lobed in irregular patterns. Small slightly shaggy fruit on female trees. Just another posibility. Ideally if you can show a photo of the bark and give details of the approximate height and age of the tree.

Yes that's a good possibility. The variability of the leaf lobes is 'as expected'.
