Just had a mail from it's new owner. Still going strong 17 years on!!

It's a Lee Noble design and emotional for me so I hope the mods leave it in!!

He's putting in a Zetec (was pinto) and upgrading the NG1 renault box.

Looks like a cross between a bug eyed Sprite and one of the small Fiat summer/seaside cars. It is different to what on sees today smile

Yes I did. All myself. Not an 'Adrian' in sight!!! 9K all in I seem to recall and one very sorry Grenada 'shell' left on the drive for some time!!

Tis where my Black on Black came from.

Hi there Lucky P!! It's Dave the new owner. Finally got round to registering on Pistonheads.
The project is still going well but changing the NG3 to the UN1 box is getting a bit more involved than I first thought it would. The driveshaft adaptors have different sized splines, the mounts can't be adapted and the bellhousing is fouling the main chassis crossmember so I'll probably have to move the fuel tank somewhere else (pobably not a bad thing though). Most of it was to be expected and will be worth it in the long run. Although they do look a bit wierd. Maybe a restyling project next......
I'll mail you pics as the project goes along.
Other bits are going well though, the adaptor plate seems to line up ok, I've managed to grt hold of an Omex ECU for the engine and a new stainless tubular manifold for the turbo to go on- shiny! As soon as I can get the gearbox mounted the chassis is being powder coated again as I think a previous owner may have used it in the rain a bit. Once that's done it can go back together again. I'm giving myself a target of early April and might book a trackday late April as an incentive.

I've seen pics of your Ultima, awesome piece of kit.
