Just received a text from a company asking me to call 020 7561 4*** about my TVR. Anyone else here had the same, if so any idea what it is all about.

Secretly hoping this might be some news about the rebirth of the TVR centre ...

I just had it too, apparently they bought my details from "someone" and they are a Land Rover dealer in London (won't give them any free air time on here).

Yep, I got one too. I tried to respond that I no longer owned it but it's impossible to reply.

I rang them and they went into a sale pitch about servicing my car.

Even if I wanted to get any work done on my car I wouldn't take it to them now on principle.

So much for the data protection act, our data is protected ..................... unless they can get money for it

Hi,

I got the same thing; text stating that it was from TVR; googled the number to find its a North London Landrover dealer, called the number and it just rings out. I would be interested as to how they got my mobile as I've only dealt with the dealer (bought from new) and I doubt they would hand the number out. I can only think that they have got it from TVR Assist?

I bought my car from the (former) TVR Centre in Barnet - I assumed it was from their records.

I'm not insured through them but did buy the car from Barnet. It would be an odd business move for the TVR centre to sell our details on to another company who provides the same service? In effect would they not be cutting their own throats?

Just spoke with them as I received the text, yes they bought a data base because with TVR centre going pop they can do the servicing.

They can go fk themselves

Sorry, probably being very thick here, but has the TVR Centre gone out of business? Their website is still operating.

Their website may still be operating but they are no longer at their premises in Arkley.

Various rumors circulate about the reasons for this very sudden and unexpected closure last month. Best informed guess is that an unforseen single event happened which contributed rather than a gradual decline due to trading conditions.

Further rumors suggest that they will reappear at some future date in a different form and location but until that happens I would not assume that anyone from the ex management of the TVR Centre has circulated your contact details. In fact it has likely been done illegally by someone who must have had access to the database.

Thanks for the response. I really liked the guys at Barnet and didn't think for a minute that they would play loose with their customers details. I hope they are up and running before Xmas as I need a 12k service.
