As a Merc fan this hurts me, but it does show just how bad the early W210 Mercs were for corrosion.

Cheap smoker if you own a body shop (or couldn't give a toss about appearances) however.

Shed Shopping Thurday?

Mercs are pretty bad, I think the rested / relaxed a bit too much or the anti corrosion front , and only 5-6 years later realised it was a mistake.

Looking at the condition of the back seats it probably was a taxi and been to the moon and back!

p.s. my mother had one that had done 12k miles and was garaged the whole time she had it and it was rusting on every arch and door bottom!

That could be sold to someone in Morocco and still be running in 30 years time!

As said though, if you know how to do body repairs that is a lot of car for the money.

W210s used water based paint, and Mercedes have actually repaired a large number of them under their Mobilo lifetime warranty thing

I saw one in a multi storey lately in similar condition, my 22 year old W201 didn't have a spot of rust on it anywhere. Really is a shame for a 10 year old Captain Kirk to look like a ship's anchor already.

If it's gone that far on the body, the subframe could be 'interesting'.

Thats a year older than the citroen parked outside my house, which isn't sporting even the beginings of rust anywhere yet.

Exactly, and the upper coil spring mounts are probably about to fail as well.
