Right, I'm about to buy a new 37" LCD, and I'm down to 2.

LG 37LD350 £380-odd
Samsung LE37C530 £390-odd

The Samsung has 3 HMDis, the LG has 2. I need 2 aqt the moment, with no immediate plans to need more.

I already have a Samsung 22" which I'm happy with, but I hear good things about LG in general.

Which one should I buy?

Whatever has the best picture for your eyes, not someone elses and that has the functionality you require right now.

They're both the same in those respects. I'm wondering in anyone has ownership experience of both makes, or can advise on reliability and so on.

Well I've had a Samsung 32" LCD for the last 2 years, superb picture and totally reliable. I think the LG will be just as reliable. Most issues come up within the first 12 months anyway, which is covered by the standard warranty.

Panasonic 37X20 kicks the st out of both of them.

If it has to be one of the Koreans though, LG hands down.

It doesn't matter what it is, it's a Panasonic so you really need to buy it. Samsung are a crap company and make garbage, that's why they're so unsuccessful and will be out of business by midnight tonight hehe

Ahh, I see. It hadn't occurred to me that the PH would be so strong in this section of the forum smile

seriously, read some online reviews on the TVs you're thinking about rather than taking advice on expensive purchases from online forums. There are quite a few around if you simply Google the model of TV you're interested in and "review".

Plasma is superior to LCD in every way.

1080p is pointless on a 37" set.

The Panasonic plasma set is better than either the Samdung or the LG in every way.

Your choice though.

Oh and for the avoidance weight being given to pointless wittering, the smallest television we sell is 80" so this advice is provided on the basis of fact rather than wanting to sell something.

I already have, and I know which I prefer. As I said, I was after some ownership experiences, rather than techy and performance advice.

I don't doubt you're correct, and I appreciate your advice. Nevertheless, if I sold AV installations, and nothing smaller than 80", I'd be a bit spoiled too. wink

It's a 37" LCD I want. It's not my main tv, BTW - it's for gaming, mainly.

Then I hope you find the set you like.

However the advice would be the same if I were a butcher.

"Can I have a slice of your best beef, butcher?"

"No you can have a Panasonic Plasma and like it!"

For gaming on a second set I can understand wanting to go for an LCD. I did this for a TV that gets used as a second set and equal use as PC monitor. I don't care what people say, but leaving a static image on a plasma screen is just asking for trouble.

I'm surprised you manage to sell any tellys, when you are consistently putting 600 posts per month on here!!!!

Plotloss bashing aside, listen to the chap, he knows his onions from his shallots!
Gaming being the preserve of LCD TV's is a misnomer, as Plasma cells in the Pannys, and probably that of LG's, are quicker response times than LCD.
As for screenburn - another non-issue unless you're a complete and utter moron who likes the back of his retinas burnt off him.
Have gamed extensively on a 37" Panny PX70, and not one issue arose from doing so.
As much as I want to have a G20, we don't need to spend the money since the PX70 still looks excellent.

So pony up the funds and grab the X20 at the very least, you won't regret doing so.

Mwahahahah at Plotless' posts.

Clearly has no real knowledge of Samsung.

The technologies they are developing, the massive research and development, the hugh bottomlerr put of money and the ever increasing build quality will ensure they stay at the top.

It's only a matter of time before Samsung becomes more superior in every way to Pana - who incidentally are stuck in the past
