Friend had one (1.2 or 1.4 i think- n/a) back in the 2001, nice enough. Plenty of leg room in the front too.

Edit- his wasn't very reliable (clutch and gearbox went) in the end, but perhaps bought a lemon. Fairly good on fuel too.

Nah just wasnt sure how people would react to it... plus everyone else has been giving me some stick for buying it over a vtr/s.

Exactly- nice enough motor. OP liked it enough to buy it afterall.

Change those alloys and will look much better.
Any mods to the engine? What is it running? Big intercooler inidcates more power.

What i know of is Enclosed pipercross induction kit, decat exhaust and superchip ( well it has a reciept and can rev to around 7400) plans are for a bigger turbo and piper cam.

I had a red one of those, I ran it for a couple of years. Its the only car Ive had that scared me, the previous owner had some wide wheels on it (cant remember the width) and I think the ecu had been tweaked, but it made if very skittish on anything less than smooth tarmac and/or Muddy roads. The torque steer was very unnerving in a twisty backroad and really sapped confidence. It was probably not helped in my case as I came to the punto from a mk1 mr2.

I had a section of road on my way home from work, about 20 miles of b road blast - I reckoned I could cover it quicker in the 2cv I had at the time. I swapped the punto for a seicento sporting, which was a much more engaging drive.

I did love spooling the turbo up though! savage mid range punch on the right surface, in a straight line

My turbos running actuator pressure at the moment so it doesnt really have much in the way of torque steer. I do agree that its not the most fun car on a b road but give it a wide fairly straight smooth road and your sorted. Before i bought this car i was after either a saxo vtr/s or a 106 gti ( wanted a mk1 clio 16v but insurance was unreal).
