This business tycoon is worth £85 million and he's built his own electric sports car with £400,000 of taxpayers' money.

http://swns.com/tycoon-builds-nemesis-electric-sup...

This sort of thing annoys me - I bet he's made a huge amount of money out of the government in the name of 'ethical energy' and he gets more to build a car and then uses it as a daily runaround.

And nothing has really been achieved that hasn't been done by Tesla and Lotus.

AND he looks like Billy Ray Cyrus.

Your thoughts PHers?

That's why the 'green' industry is worth a fortune. Subsidies.

Take the recently opened Thanet wind farm. A staggering £1.2 Billion in subsidies will be raked in, from the taxpayer, over their projected 20 year lifespan!

Without these huge subsidies, it would be economic suicide for their Danish owners to go ahead with them. Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

But it's ok, 21 permanent jobs have been created. rolleyes

In fairness, the £400,000 was spent on British engineering firms who will have found it a useful project not only for generating cashflow, but for intellectual property and skills.

So it's not £400,000 "wasted", but it does signify that perhaps the government agent who granted the money didn't think through the return.

And nuclear power stations can cope with demand, when and where it's required. They can even sell surplus electricity to generate profit.

Besides, I thought that private companies were not allowed to run Nuclear Stations due to security etc etc smile

Anyway, thats for another thread, as I'm sure you know. wink

He's based in Stroud (my nearest "big" town) and recently took a few journos for a spin around the lanes. In the middle of Nailsworth there is a roundabout bisected by the A46, so fairly busy.

The car broke down right in the middle of the roundabout so Mr Vince had to push it out of the way with several dozens of onlookers. One local chap apparently walked past and said "What's the matter mate, run out of petrol?" hehe

I watched the Fully Charged episode with this car - I think I'm right in remembering that development started before anything like the Tesla was available. It kicks the crap out of the Tesla performance-wise too. I believe the £400k is not just for this car but more beyond.

Like it or not, this sort of tech is going to have a huge part to play in future cars. Would you rather the TSB fund projects like this and attempts to put British engineering and expertise at the forefront of the market, or just let it all go overseas like everything else?

Nuclear Stations are run by Private Companies, licensed by the NDA and OCNS.
