Afternoon All

Just after a bit of feedback on the cost for a replacement boiler. I've just had NPower out to give me a quote and the two prices are as follows;

Worcestor Greenstar 24Ri open vent boiler, flue duct kit, Magnaclean filter and also creation of a soakaway for the condensing pipe all fitted for £2649.43.

Vaillant ecoTEC plus 428 open vent plus all above for £2684.52.

Both prices include VAT.

Any thoughts on these - does the price seem reasonable? Also, does anyone have any decent feedback on both of the boilers? The prices are pretty much comparable so it's only down to personal preference and the reviews i'm trying to sift through

Ta in advance

Seems a bit expensive to me.
Anyway, have a look here before you decide - it may influence your decision!

Thanks - i did manage to find that after i'd posted (should have looked before typing!)

Just phoned a local fitter and he reckons both prices are "generous". He thinks fitted they would both be about £1600 all in, although the warranty would only then be 1 year. Something to consider...

Consider that European and UK consumer law says a product has to be fit for purpose. Current legal interpretation says that if a boiler failed in, say, 4 years then it wouldn't have been fit. I don't know what sort of time that would be for a boiler, but for consumer electronics it is 5 years, so I would expect a boiler to be considerably longer.

When our back boiler packed up we were quoted +/- £2,500 to replace it by British Gas.

I got a new boiler put in, and moved to the airing cupboard upstairs, by a local company for £1,500. Nearly ten years later that same company still has the service contract on it due to their efficiency.

If you want a Worcester, go to their website, there is a function on there that lets you search for an Accredited Installer in your area who can offer you a 5 Year Warranty.

Companies like N-Power and BG will always be more costly than an Independant Engineer.
