I really enjoy reading roadtrip reports (Like Rach's on here, and the postman one) Also enjoyed reading Ben Lovejoys site especially his old Nurburgring trips but especially the Cambodia and Chernobyl trips. Stephen Stewart's site is brilliant too. But I'm running out of interesting sites to read about so does anyone know of any good ones, they don't have to be all road trips but perhaps travel in general.

TV Programs are good too, Long way down/around as well as the Top Gear roadtrips and Michael Palin's trips were good on TV. So recommendation for them would be good. If they're on youtube then even better!

always thought this was an epic story:

The story behind the all-time speed record for crossing the American continent on four wheels.

Not a particularly long story, but the bloke who sold everything, bought a Gallardo, and drove across the USA is worth a read - linky

What great links so far.

Crafty, this paragraph from your link made me laugh:
Crafty's Link said:
Before leaving, I asked the driver his name. The answer from the weathered old guy was "Rooster the Wrecker". Moments later, he proudly proclaimed that he was a redneck from Mississippi and that he hoped that we weren't in a hurry. Despite being 250 feet from the freeway entrance, Rooster left in the opposite direction and drove past what appeared to be an old graveyard. I asked where we were going and Rooster responded, "What, you worried that I'm going to kill you and take your car?" Frankly, we were worried of just that. Tim and I looked at each other, then Tim slyly grabbed his work knife hiding in his pocket just in case things got ugly. After a few minutes of driving, we found a freeway entrance, Rooster slowly ambled up the onramp, and we were finally headed for TCI. According to the instrument cluster hanging from the dash in the tattered old Ford F-150 Super Duty, the truck's 460 V-8 had over 329,000 miles on the odometer. Despite being on relatively flat roads, the engine was struggling to keep the truck moving and exhaust fumes began to enter the cabin. Rolling down Interstate 78 at a whopping 52 mph, the truck was weaving between lanes -- or was it Rooster that was doing the weaving? Then the cell phone calls began coming in. For most of the drive, Rooster received call after call from ladies seeking affection, from ladies seeking a joint, and from ladies needing help. Without a doubt, we were living an episode of the Twilight Zone.
Rach - There was a little bit of bhyness in Mark's blog, I've not read the other one yet. Was it you that had the fallout with Tracy? smile Maybe it's just me, but I'd have thought that doing a massive trip like that, would be that all the cars stayed together and helped each other out a lot more, it seemed that you all split up fairly often or does it just make it sound that way and it wasn't?

Time to get reading more links to kill a Sunday evening off, thank you all.

The tension was between Simon/Pat in the Landy and Mark/Beth in the camper, Pat fell out with Tracey... bit of an understatement, she totally lost the plot.
It wasn't even Traceys fault, but we'd been held up in a traffic jam for hours and then trying to catch up driving late in the night, the Chinese are crazy drivers and it was scary! Pat went ballistic because she felt really unsafe.

Mark & Beth were so anal about keeping to their time schedule they just buggered off and left us when we had problems, even though Mark was a bit of a VW buff and could probably have fixed half the issues we had. The time they left us in Kazkahstan some guy tried to rob us, luckily some locals intervened and saved us.

It's very hard on these kind of big trips, we hadn't even met Simon & Pat when we left, I would like to do my next Big Adventure when I'm in a good relationship and if I'm still a mad old cat lady, then maybe go it alone.

Well thats a few more roadtrip reports read thank you very much, greatly appreciated!

Any more suggestions for trip reports to entertain me this weekend please?

I now have some of the Alps, the Transfagarasan Highway and Chernobyl (Tour) all in a massive loop for a trip next year (In the Elise, that'll be fun, maybe I should raise the ride height though smile ) Now just need to find useful sights to see inbetween. As for the inspiration, well these trip reports certainly do that. I've been looking for BMW F 650 GS's since the original Siberian trip report!

That's brill. Thank you, just spenta few hours reading it. Looking forward to more updates now.

The 430 Blog was a nice read too, thank you. I'm not the slightest bit envious wink

Onto the Africa on now. One of the advantages of not having a life is that I get to read all these brill road trips, thank you.
