Well tomorrow we are off for the Beaujolais Run 2010, wish us good luck, or break a leg if you are the arty type !!!
So far we have managed to raise £3,500 for the charities excluding some TBC amounts but we don't think we will be too far off the £4k mark, a great result and of course a big thank you to the RNRII guys for their help.
We leave tomorrow morning stopping in York then onto Lowestoft to see my family and in particular my brother in law whose illness led to us taking up this challenge. Monday evening we will head to southern London for an evening briefing at Worth School, then Tuesday we line up on the starting grid at Brands Hatch to be waved off by Nigel Mansell for the dash to Reims and into the challenges.
We are a bit apprehensive considering the recent issues with the TVR but heyho !!! and if we may steal the original RNR boys motto we will be 'loud and proud' on the grid with a dash of tartan, watch out for the pic's
Cheers

We are home, totally shattered but 2,750 miles covered and only issue was a rad cap needed changing, 115 gallons used and the wedge held its head high, as part of the challenge we had to find the former F1 track at Dijon, once there we were led onto the track for, well open season, five glorious laps and we hit an indicated 140mph down the straight (Probably 120ish !!), nothing compared the the 240mph the Le Man type Porkers use to hit !! That was great but the highlight for me was the former Formula 1 race track at Reims. The track forms part of the main roads around Reims as were many tracks of the 50s/60s and the likes of Le Mans and Monaco retain this format today. John Surtees raced at the last French GP to be held at Reims in 1967 and much to John’s delight a local arrived at the pits to present John with a race programme John had signed in 67. Unofficially, yet fully supported by the local community and police we were allowed to race down the main straight to the delight of spectators and the local media. This was interesting as it’s a public road with lorries and cars passing along it but with a roundabout at each end, one roundabout had a form of traffic control convienently allowing the Beaujolais runners to have a clear road in one direction. Most importantly we raised £4,000 sponsorship that will be boosted by gift aid and it contributes towards the + £80,000 raised by the competitors. Again this will be boosted by gift aid and it is even more rewarding knowing that every penny raised will go towards the charities as each organiser, accountant, lawyer and competitor involved does so at there own expense.
A fantastic event and rewarding that we raised a great amount plus had great fun and flew the wedge flag, we hope to repeat next year plus I have one of those plans forming in my head !!!
Few pictures but I will sort out a few more, amazing roads in France by the way !!
