Been at it again...plus photoshoot...

Been fiddling again, this time the Cam cover and Airbox have been treated to a freshen up. Although not without issues...what should of been a simpe job turned into a nightmare.
Airbox - The airbox was looking very tatty, and once removed i discovered there was a crack where the oil return pipe was. So a repair and paint was in order. Really pleased with the end result.
Then i moved onto the HT lead cover. Again was looking very tatty. So abit of paint in as close to Starmist Blue as i could find. I also refaced the lettering while i was at it.
The cam cover was the biggest nightmare. I cleaned it up and sent it away for powder coating, but when it arrived back it was awful. So i decided to tackle the paint job myself. I finally got it looking great after lots of sanding. I then fitted it with Racing Greens silicone gasket and a set of new bolts. The gasket soon became a big mistake. I short trip down the road ended in the gasket letting go, spraying oil onto the cats, and setting on fire. A TVR owners worst nightmare. With only water to hand i took the gamble and luckily it payed of and it put the fire out. This resulted in having to respray the cam cover, and a £650 bill at Fernhurst TVR getting the now contaminated oil drained, and the car checked over. Everything is now back on the car, but using sealant!!!
The end result is a slightly tidyer bay.

Targarama - It took me along time to decide on what colour to go with. I went with the white in the end as i hadnt seen one done in white yet, so wanted to be a little different.
thainy77 - I used Hammerite to spray the Airbox, but a base of plastic primer down first to make sure it would bond. So far it seems to be handing the heat and it has been on over a month.
RM75 - I used Wurth saBesto Siicone Acetate Standard Grade Sealant to sea the cam cover. My local TVR specialist gave me a tube. Thats what they use.
s5tvr - Im not keen on the SP12s. I quite like the Spiders, but i am tempted by a colour change.
More Steam - Mine will be getting some more attention over the winter, funds permiting. Hoping to have a clean up of al brackets in the bay, some silicone hoses, and sort out under the arches. Although this might have to go on the back burner as i think a new battery is not far off, and maybe a new rad. As i have a water leak around the rad area which is either a split hose or rad. Get abit of steam when sat stationary from around that area. Its not using to much water at the moment, so once ive got Vmax out of the way its coming off the road till fixed.
The car is getting very addictive, i cant stop fiddling, and everytime i take something off it has to go back on with new nuts and bolts. So by the time ive finished it should be quite tidy.

Franky, the steam you mention seeing can quite often just be rain water that has accumulated in the engine bay or ran down the bonnet and it then evaporates when the engine bay gets hot!
I guess you just need to keep a good eye on the coolant/water level!

This is what I put it down to at first.But it seems to be getting worse and is concentrated the right hand side of the rad. Once I've got Vmax out of the way I will be giving it a proper check over.I guess you just need to keep a good eye on the coolant/water level!

your car looks great, i would'nt change your spiders and think it was a stupid thing to write when your post was about your work on the engine, i would'nt change the colour either!
did you change the badges on the car?, theres no chrome surround on the front badge, something im thinking of doing myself.
