Hampshire based - need to borrow DSLR for a day

Hi all

I'm starting a photography course and as yet haven't bought a camera, waiting for some ebay items to sell to get the cash!

So, and I know it's a long shot, does anyone have an older or second camera that I could borrow for this coming Tuesday night for the lesson.

I know this sounds cheeky and a lot of you with your ££££ plus camera's wouldn't lend yours to a novice, but if there anyone with an unused or battered one that is willing to lend/hire out for the night then i'd appreciate that.

Tokens can be in beer/cash or compliments and i'm based in between Southampton and Portsmouth and would come and collect.

By the way the 'above' isn't a new code for 'i'm into cottaging'

Are you sure it's a digital photography course?

My neighbour's daughter went through a similar exercise, only to discover that her college is far from alone in insisting that they use technology from the ark and do everything with film cameras, presumably because they have a dark room, and it's what their lecturers understand.

Yeah it's an NCFE course in digital photography, but the choice of course options is endless!

They have stated that a digital SLR camera is required, and by the following week i'll have £500 to spend on one (Canon 500d, Nikon D3100 or perhaps a Pentax kx?!)

Ah, I'd be happy to lend you mine (Canon 500D) I'm from Fareham, but unfortunately I'm out of the country for a while. I'm sure someone else will be able to lend you one though. Where is the course that you're doing?

Cheers for the thought anyway and the course is at Eastleigh college, they seem to offer a great/wide selection of courses to suit all really.

On another note how are you finding the 500D as that's on my hot list for camera's?

Drop me a PM. I've got a D80 second body that retains 99% functionality (remote cable release doesn't work) that you could use. What do you think you'll need in the way of lenses - would a Sigma 10-20 suffice (my only zoom and the only lens I could do without in the event of loss/ damage)?
