I'm getting worse than Garlick here....
Please meet my new winter toy. 'Bob' is a bobtailed pickup Range Rover. 35" Mickey Thompsons (I think!), rock sliders, full cage, diff and steering guards, CB (breaker, breaker etc), a V8 and lots of mud already there, with a lot more added already in the three hours I've had it.

Cheers all. Fraser, not a problem - £1680. It needs a bit of tidying (lower and re-site snorkel, tighten front offside suspension turret, small fuel leak at the top of the tank (sealant only) and get it running cooler, and to sort out the top of the roll cage (but I'm quite liking the 'rat' look)...A few other bits and pieces as well, but at that price, you can't complain.
Nice thing is next doors lad came 5th in the nationals, and has two old Rangies that he has said 'help yourself' to parts. Result!
It's also come with things like a winch, shackles, dislocation cones etc (which is nice!). So next weekend looks like I'll be green laning for the first time. And it actually fits on the turntable in the garage!
Basic plan is to run it for a bit, and explore the off-road world. If I like it, then I'll keep it and maybe upgrade a few things (rear axle etc). If I don't, then I'll happily move it along to the next lucky owner.

Nice. If you want it running cooler those two 45 degree tubes on the roll cage are just begging to have a second rad fitted between then and piped into the engine bay. . . . . . 
Just bear in mind that you cannot under any circumstances drive that vehicle off road as both diffs, the gearbox and t-box and all four halfshafts will simultaneously snap. . . . . . or so the regular anti-LR mob will tell you!
If it's got open diffs all you need now is a True-trac up front and a Detroit locker in the rear to let you get far deeper in the s
t before you get stuck!

Having just googled those words, interesting. It does have the 'classic' rear diff that we can see, and after a quick bomb around the land (including using low range for the first time in my life), it did work. BUT the friends said that the diff would be the first thing to go, and they do have other I can have for free, so all's well!

I noticed you new toy, if you want to know anything about it let me know as i owned / built it along time ago.
Its a shame someone has put a snorkel and those big fat tyres on it, i ran it with 265/75/16 b f goodrich mud tarrains on it and never got it stuck.
The only problems i ever had with it was the fuel pump braking down.

Can you give me any of the history of it please? I literally have the V5 new keepers, and 2 MOT's - nothing else. I know that the owner before me put the cage in and did the wheels and tyres.
My next door neighbour is a serious off-road enthusiast, and he/they (a large group came over to have a look), was/were very impressed with the general build quality of it. It's still really solid, and just needs a bit of love and use to get it really working happily again.

hi just read the coment about breaking the shafts and diffs that bobtail has done sum seriuos off roading in the many years it bean around and never broke any think.most of the time it is caused buy fitting tyres that are to fat this causes to much strain on the shafts.if any one should no about your range rover it will be me asi own it for years.
