I have a Clio 182 at the moment which is a great car, but my knee and ankle is playing up again and I may have to go back to an automatic....

Anyone recommend a car similar to the 182 but with a proper auto? I have tried a golf with a DSG and didn't like the gearbox, plus they seem to be loads of trouble...

So to sum up....

Must be petrol
No bigger than a golf
Around 200ish BHP

Any ideas?

Reading the first line of your post my first thought was a Golf DSG hehe

I can't actually think of anything else though...

325Ti Compact? 196bhp, straight 6 smile

RWD, quite a hoot a drive and usually full of kit.

Clear rear lights look pants so bung on facelift set and away you go...

Or try a 1-series if you want newer!

I would have suggested the Fabia vRS or Ibiza, but if you don't like the DSG box...

What's you're problem with it? It drives pretty much like a normal slushbox but not as slushy, if you put it in D or S mode?

Something with a DSG would suit you, what didn't you like about it?

Needs attention to paintwork, but wot a bargain!

eta A good detailer/bodyshop could sort that for a few pennies I should think.

Alfa 147 selespeed?

Not sure that box gets rave reviews though. Don't know your budget is but there is BMW 130 as well.

Hmmm, auto boxes in small cars never work . Try a bigger car and it will make sense ( btw a 2009 1.6 focus auto gets about 20mpg in town )

ludicrous speed

No mention of budget but if same as current Clio them try

Corrado Vr6 auto
Had one of these last year and was surprised how well it works as an auto, nice to drive and plenty of go if you make it rev (it's designed to keep to low revs so you need to use the kick down or just drive it in 2nd or 3 rd when making progress.

Audi A4 quattro 3.0 tip auto
The 3.0 is a lovely engine and works well with the auto, my one had steering wheel button to change gear with although it works fine in auto mode

I have a 325ti Compact and its not that fast. The auto box is good and the engine sounds sweet but 0-60 is 7.9secs.

The C30 T5 is a good suggestion.

I wouldn't have a Skoda - their interiors and logo of a dildo with wings are not something I could live with.

BMW 130i? Handle well and significantly more powerful with 265bhp but will be just as economical (if not more) than most of the competition at 200bhp.

Better a dildo on the logo than a dildo behind the wheel?

Interesting comment, considering the reputation that Vulva drivers have?
