While painting my front wishbones I suddendly noticed how different they are. Both pairs are straight, have the essential ball joint threads and bush casings all in the right place and at the the right angles but one set looks as if it is made with an inch less tube than the other! I know these are hand made cars but wondered if others have owned similar non-matching wishbones? I guess it's possible that one is home made but who knows.

The back one is OE and the other is a replacement.

Just as well I'm tea drinker Slow-M! Why would I possibly expect my TVR wishboes to be the same shape - silly old me.

Did you not notice that the TVR items were brazed and the later mig welded...Adrian@

Nothing wrong with drinking both. Whose idea was it to change caster and which is more desirable...Adrian?

Andy, apologies, I was under the impression you were stating that they were geometrically/functionally different. In fact, I suspect, they produce the same geometry, don't they? Further, are these reversible?

Vixen chassis brackets and lower Wishbones deal with castor (that shopping trolley wheel follow on effect!) top wishbones are the same. Adrian@
My thoughts are that the arc of that later wishbone has been pinched from the M series parts bin....

No problems, as you say they will be ok no matter which side they're on - which is just as well because I can't remember which side I took them off! I can't think that there are any advantages to having them more "U" shaped rather than than "V" shaped. If anything the latter design will be a tad heavier and perhaps not so strong but physics isn't one of my strengths so I will leave it there. Just another little quirk that make these lovely little cars so interesting.

Agree, V is more rigid and lighter. Never understood the reasoning for the curves. Look @ the ones on my M ans scratch head often.

I suspect its more to do with production techniques than performance. The U shape provides a more straightforward joint set up which is easier to weld than an accute joint section which would be required for a Vee shape wishbone.
