I haven't used the TVR for almost a week, so we went out for a blast this afternoon.

I got in and the TVR smell hits, after that turn the key and the quiet street erupts with an offbeat V8 roar, a few prods of the throttle to clear it's throat and we're sounding like a top-fueller.

The steering, the gearchanges, the looks I get from others, the speed....I love my Chimaera. As a serial car buyer how am I ever going to be able to sell it?

Do any of you know what I mean?

Im pretty sure a psycologist would tell you that you cant love an object, and that youre just projecting your feelings for your mother onto them etc.

Yeah, but it's easy to fall out of love with your car when it runs a big end bearing.

Maybe I've loved some of my cars, but have never been in love with one yet - so I don't think I've found the automotive love of my life as I change my car way too often.

I think I just love cars.

Only car I've ever regretted selling was my Eunos Roadster.

Got a 330i just now - very very good car in many different ways but no, it doesn't inspire love and that's a problem frown

No, it's only a lump of plastic and aluminium. It's my favourite of my possessions but ultimately, it's just a possession.

My car doesn't inspire love just respect for its abilities.

If I had the room for a TVR of any flavour me thinks I'd love it.

Well, I cried when I sold my first Chimaera even with the Elise being picked up to replace her. So then I bought another Chimaera, and I don't ever aim to sell her. So yes, I know what you mean....

Having finally got the object of my dreams in my garage (993 C2), I can honestly say YES.

I've had cars that I've liked, admired, respected, and some that have pissed me off to be honest (yes Z4MC I mean you), but now I know what true car love feels like.

Now I am a stoic sort of fellow, but something odd happened to me the other day. It must have been a combination of the noise, feel and smell of the car; the sunny weather, and the sudden realisation that I had finally achieved a long-held motoring aspiration - whatever it was, I came over all emotional with a man-tear in my eye and everything.

Thank God I was on my own at the time.

I don't love my T5 - it's a tool.

I do love my Belmont. Even if it bites me, kicks me in the nuts, empties my wallet faster than a $1000/hr we, and generally makes me insane. But when it's running properly, and all the gears work, and nothing falls off it, the grin factor exceeds ten, in fact it goes to twelve.

I also love my Pontiac. Even if it's homeless, it's still a great thing to drive.

And I still love my little ol' Nova. It may not have V8 verve, but it was absolutely great fun to drive.

If cars were religious, mine would be Mormon.

Please hand in your PH membership on your way out biggrin

Yep, know what you mean. I get RIDICULOUSLY bonded to my cars, even the ones that have annoyed and frustrated with a few too many problems. I put those down to 'character', whereas most sane people would put it down to a 'money pit'.

I have dropped thousands over the years on my cars and bikes in improvements and maintenance and bringing sheds back to their full glory. I really, really must be mental. But then, so are most on here, and that's why I find solace on these forums frequently!

No, I fking hate it but I do know what you mean about the TVR.

Enjoy it because hardly anything else has that assault of the senses quality.

There have been some I loved, but a minority looking back.

- a very dodgy Porsche 911 S that was on its last legs when I owned it, but it was the first really quick car I had owned, and I loved that car. I was too poor to maintain it, sadly.

-E39 M5 was the best saloon I ever owned, and I am sorry I sold it now.

-current GT3RS.2 is the best car of any kind I've had...the most communicative, chuckable car I have driven. I am sure there are numerous better cars, but for me personally, this one works, and I intend to keep it into its old age.

I always think about this, when I'm sat away from the car thinking about it the asnwer is no. Because I realise it's just a very normal car, not quick, not fast, and not a particularly good handler.

Ask me again when I'm behind the wheel, doesn't matter where I'm going or who I'm with, and the answer is always... Yes I love my car smile
