Thought the wife and I should both do a driving course of some description - I'm intending to head out onto trackdays (I get invited to regular private ones, but have never taken my own car, as up til now I haven't had anything worth taking!)

Anyone had any good/bad/indifferent experiences of such days? I quite like the idea of one where you can bring your own car, as that would feel more appropriate.

Have a look at the Track Days & Driving Experiences forum - there's loads of stuff in there.

I did a Hot Marques track day Tues 6th at Knockhill near where I stay. 1st ever as I only recently acquired my Chim 450. It was in the dry and I was garbage.

However, this was in preparation of a class night 13th and despite it being pissing down I was 100 times better by the end of it.

Class consisted of half hour in classroom followed by sitting beside instructor who showed how to and how not to do it, followed by following the instructor round the track (a dozen of us split up into 3 convoys - 3 instructors) and followed by 1hr of track day style on your own.

Absolutely invaluable and I can't impress enough how much this helped.

btw pics of track night on the net in the galley of;
