Hi just a query for any experiences of converting your vinyl and cassettes to cd/mp3. I am looking at getting the TEAC LPR 500 to accomplish this with. I know there are various offerings from ion, but they do seem to be messy to use and i need to be able to start the conversion and leave it until it is ready to replace the cd, i also have some 78's any advice on problems converting those.
Thanks for any info.

Crikey how much do you have to copy? For the cost of one of those you could probably buy your whole collection in MP3 format.

I've converted a few tapes plugging an old walkman into my PC soundcard using a 3.5mm audio cable and Audacity (free software).

The op wants to fire and forget though. Otherwise he could do this with any piece of kit through and amp and into the sound card.

Depends on what he's copying. Some rare old records aren't available in MP3 format.

Nah, I know a place that will get them for you if thay haven't already got them. In fairness though I have never asked them and would be amazed if they did, but they say they will so I beleive.

I have probably got about 500 old cassette tapes and 100 viynl, and want to play the vinyl and cassttes without going to the extreme whilst still recording on cd, particularly as we all know the quality/atmosphere of cd and mp3 is inferior to casstte and vinyl. DAT unfortunatly was not that popular, but was in reality the next level up in quality from cassette in comparison to cd.
