where do I find a timeline of older mercedes models

Hi I am trying to track down an American import about 15 years ago that has gone missing in storage, and figure that to identify the exact model would be a good starting point - I have a photo which shows a 50's roadster with colour coded hub caps, a grill that consists of a single chrome bar that holds the 3 pointed star. Metre long blisters above each wheel arch that have a chrome strip running through them. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That'll be the one then! Thanks, all I have to do now is to track down its whereabouts - last seen going off to storage in southampton wearing californian plates some 15 years ago. might try classic and sportscar's where are they now feature? thanks again.
